This past weekend, I was asked to stage manage an inaugural music and arts festival in Boston called the Boston Summer Arts Weekend.
This is folk singer Suzanne Vega, classical trumpet player Alison Balsom and New Orleans big brass band Soul Rebels playing a song together on stage. I love that I work in a creative industry because true creativity is nothing without collaboration. These artists each play music that is so drastically different from the other, but they were all able to come together and make something that was almost exhilarating to watch.
Many people admire the singular “creative genius”, but I admire the group effort, the collaboration, the countless visions and sounds and ideas and life stories that these people condensed into one moment in time — one play, one film, or in this case, one song.
